At least 506 indigenous women and girls have gone missing or been killed in 71 American cities — including more than 330 since 2010. 95% of cases were never even covered by the media and these numbers are considered gross underestimations. 84% percent of Native women experience violence in their lifetime, and in some tribal communities, Native women are murdered at 10 times the national average.

It is far past time that the violence against women in Native communities is addressed.

Meet Manda, 2L, and President of NALSA! She graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a B.A. in Film Studies and a Fine Arts/Digital Design minor. She is interested in Intellectual Property and Corporate Law. Happy Monday, everyone! Our board spotlight today is on Jackie, a 2L, who is NALSA’s treasurer. She graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and a Chicanx Studies minor. She is interested in immigration law and public interest work. In her free time she enjoys embroidering, listening to audio books, and playing with her cat, Panini.

Say hi to Kate! Kate, a 2L, is the Vice President and Secretary of NALSA. She studied English at the University of the Pacific, and received her teaching credential at Cal-Poly SLO.
She is interested in education and employment law. In her free time, Kate loves photography, crafting, terrible dad jokes, and playing golf.
