El concepto de "estate planning" o planificación patrimonial es confuso para los nativos de USA. Imagínese lo que seria para los que no crecimos aquí! Palabras como "will," "trust," o "probate" son términos que generalmente escuchamos en la radio o televisión o los leemos en el Internet o los diarios, pero que en la mayoría de los casos no sabemos que significan. En general "estate planning" signi

fica el conjunto de instrucciones relacionados a que queremos que pase con nuestras cosas y nuestras familias en el caso en que no podamos decidir por nosotros mismos. Y esto ocurre cuando estamos discapacitados o mu***os. En síntesis, estate planning consiste en elaborar un "manual de instrucciones" para nuestros seres queridos para que ellos sepan cuales son nuestros deseos en caso de que estemos discapacitados o mu***os. Pero como podemos elaborar ese "manual de instrucciones?" Cuanto cuesta? Me conviene mas un will o un trust? Puedo evitar "probate?" (aun cuando no sepamos lo que significa probate, todo el mundo dice que hay que evitarlo) Como puedo acceder a importantes beneficios tales como Medicaid para costear mis gastos de cuidados a largo plazo? Por que es importante incorporar planificación para Medicaid al "estate planning?"

Hemos elaborado un proceso simple para responder a estas preguntas y muchas otras mas que podamos tener sobre estate planning. Nuestros servicios se basan en la educación del cliente sobre estos temas a través de diversos ángulos, tales como talleres, blogs, newsletters, panfletos, y otros medios, y en el consejo final que se recomienda en base a las necesidades básicas de la familia. Nos diferenciamos de otras firmas en que nosotros no proveemos los servicios en base a la aparente necesidad de un cliente de querer firmar un documento. Ud. no sabe si necesita un will o un trust hasta que un abogado entienda bien porque Ud. cree que necesita esos documentos. A lo mejor ni los necesita! Cual es su preocupación? Sus hijos? Demandas? Divorcios? Obtener beneficios públicos? Proteger su patrimonio contra gastos médicos de largo plazo?
