In an effort to eliminate the gender pay gap, Illinois legislators amended the Illinois Equal Pay Act to prevent employers from asking about an applicant’s salary history. Currently, women in both Iowa and Illinois earn only 79% of what men do. If you feel you are the victim of pay discrimination, give our office a call at (563) 355-6060.

Starting January 1, 2020, 1.3 million additional workers will be eligible for overtime pay. Most workers making less than $35,568 per year are going to be entitled to extra pay for hours over 40.

A long-awaited update to federal overtime rules means about 1.3 million workers will be entitled to extra pay when they work more than 40 hours a week. But critics say it doesn't go far enough.
