Not sure if this verdict will hold up, as the defense is very well represented by ; however, people should understand the difference between a fountain on premises controlled by the premises owner versus ice in a parking lot or some such. Property owners do not generally have a duty to prevent the dangers of ice in a parking lot, but these facts appear to be different. I was not part of either side, but think the clarification is important. I will say this is a verdict involving two very good Dallas firms who were very well versed with Dallas County juries.

A Dallas County jury awarded $9.45 million to a man who suffered injuries at Hotel Crescent Court while walking his dog.

It's wild what your ultra-conservative Texas "leaders" tried to get through and what actually did get through. LAWSUITS ARE NOT OUT OF HAND IN TEXAS!
Politics aside, there has been a lot of spending by conservative groups to send false messages about our trial judges in Dallas County. You want real trial attorneys as judges in your courts, and you certainly want a right to a jury trial if you ever need it! Even my most conservative clients and friends should not want further restrictions to the court house. Despite rhetoric, lawsuits are not out of control.

I think it is unfortunate that our judges are aligned with parties, but an educated voter can overcome that.

When you vote, study the candidates and their experience. Pick trial lawyers for judges.....you will thank me if you ever find yourself in a trial.

This one has me shaking my head once again.

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has fought my client’s claim against a driver who ran over her while she was a pedestrian in 2018. The at fault driver was a police officer, so her ability to recover damages was already significantly limited due to the limitations of exceptions to governmental immunity (TTCA). The Attorney General's Office will do and say whatever it takes to tie her claims up in the Courts, rather than paying her damages.

They have asserted my client’s claims are barred because the Division of Worker’s Compensation in Texas has exclusive jurisdiction over her claims despite her not seeking any wage claims and, more importantly, not being hurt while in the course and scope of employment. Let me say that again – she was not at work nor is she seeking worker’s compensation benefits.

They lost their position in the District Court in Hidalgo County, and they lost again before the Thirteenth Court of Appeals in Edinburg. Both courts were correct.
