Richardson Koudelka, LLP is honored to represent the family of Len Root, a pilot killed in the Wings Over Dallas Air Show crash, in a suit filed today.
On Saturday, November 12, 2022, more than 4,000 people watched in horror, along with millions more around the world, as two WWII-era aircraft collided in mid-air in the Wings Over Dallas Airshow. Beloved husband and father, Len Root, a retired American Airlines pilot who frequently flew both modern and historic aircraft, was among the six men who perished in the collision. While the investigation is ongoing, failures in planning and the coordination of the aircraft positions caused the mid-air collision and the deaths of the pilots and crew.
“Filing this lawsuit was a difficult decision for the Root family. Ultimately, protecting the aviation community and holding those responsible for this tragedy honors Len Root and his passion for flying. We are committed to making sure others don’t suffer as Mrs. Root and Len’s daughters have,” said Kevin Koudelka.
The death of this experienced pilot who was dedicated to sharing his passion with the world by flying in air shows is an immense loss made even more tragic by its preventable nature. Len’s family and Richardson Koudelka, LLP's aim is to help ensure safety for pilots participating in air shows.
