The biggest mistake we see?

Employees deciding they don't have a case before ever speaking with a lawyer.
Many people assume legal help is too expensive, too complicated, or simply not worth it.

The truth is that understanding your rights often starts with a conversation-not a lawsuit.
Before you talk yourself out of it, get informed.

A great team isn't built only in the office.

This weekend, the Jackson Spencer Law team traded conference rooms for lake views, boat rides, paddle boards, friendly competition, good conversations, and a little well-earned downtime.

From the "Spency Awards" to co****le tournaments, pool games, jet skis, and evenings spent on the porch, the retreat was a chance to connect, recharge, and enjoy time together outside of the day-to-day.

We're grateful for a team that works hard, supports one another, and knows how to have fun along the way.

Here's to another great year at JSL.

Mass layoffs can create uncertainty-but they don't eliminate your rights.

If your employer is conducting layoffs, pay attention to how decisions are being made, who is being impacted, and what documents you're being asked to sign.

Before accepting a severance package or assuming there's nothing you can do, make sure you understand your options.

Watch the reel to learn what to look for during a mass layoff.

A hostile work environment can feel obvious when you’re living it-but proving it legally is a different story.

Documentation matters. Patterns matter. Timing matters.

If you’re dealing with harassment, retaliation, or a workplace that has become unbearable, knowing what evidence to preserve (and what mistakes to avoid) can make a major difference.

Miss one meeting and you’re fired? Not necessarily.

But context matters. Company policies, prior warnings, the reason for the absence, and what happened leading up to it can all make a difference.

Watch the reel to understand how workplace rights and employer decisions can intersect.

Tip #2: Don’t hurt your own case by holding back.

Withholding documents or leaving out important details can create problems later.

Your attorney can only protect what they know.

HR asked you into a meeting unexpectedly? What you say next matters.

Whether it’s a performance conversation, investigation, write-up, or termination meeting, protecting yourself starts with staying calm, listening carefully, and being intentional with your responses.

Employment law issues often come down to documentation, timing, and what was actually said in the room.

If your workplace suddenly feels different… pay attention.

Not every uncomfortable situation is unlawful-but patterns matter.

Changes in treatment, sudden documentation, HR involvement, and pressure tactics can all be signs that something bigger is happening.

The most important thing? Don’t ignore what feels off.
