July 11, 2022, Archibald C. McColl, III died peacefully at home at the age of 73. His larger-than-life persona and trademark generosity will not be forgotten. Affectionately known as both Arch and Archie, he was born September 18, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Frances and Archibald McColl. After finishing high school in Midland, Texas, he graduated cm laude from Princeton University and got his J.D. degree at Saint Mary’s University School of Law, where he wrote for the Law Journal. He was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1975.
Arch was part of an elite group of Texas, high-stakes, criminal defense attorneys. He was admitted before the U. S. Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals; 5th and 11th Circuits; all U.S. and State District Courts in Texas, He appeared in the trial courts of more than 17 states and, internationally, in Great Britain. Arch was the Managing Partner at McColl and McColloch, PLLC located in Dallas, Texas. He was a relentless advocate for his clients.
Arch is survived by Cassandra McColl, his dearly loved wife; four children: Duncan McColl, Katie and David Lukens, Sarah McColl and Max Hart, Archibald C. McColl IV, [Bliss]; three grandchildren: Violet, Henry and Wesley; three sisters: Marge and John Jackson, Sharon and Dan Hester, Patty and Jimmy Eaton; a niece and nephew, Megan and Brandon Petty; and, his best friend, Hank Mast.
Arch was passionate about his family, friends and clients. He was generous to a fault. You could have no better friend or advocate than Arch McColl.
