There is a certain kind of person who gets knocked down by people who did not deserve their warmth and still, inexplicably, chooses warmth again. Not because they are naive about what happened or because they have forgotten. But because something in them refuses to let other people's cruelty rewrite who they fundamentally are.

They will cry in private, they will feel it fully, and then they will show back up with the same open heart they walked in with. That is not weakness. That is one of the most extraordinary forms of strength there is.

Choosing kindness after being hurt is a deliberate and courageous act. It means refusing to allow someone else's damage to permanently alter the best parts of who you are. The world will test that over and over, will send people who seem to believe that softness is an invitation to take advantage, and every single time you respond with warmth anyway you are making a statement about your character that no amount of hardship will ever fully erase. You are not naive. You are simply someone whose goodness cannot be permanently extinguished. Hold onto that.
