I thought Republicans say they want “no government” - What they really meant is no government except when it comes to regulating women’s bodies and Surveillance of citizens…. EYE ROLL! 🙄

Texas ranks as one of the worst states for healthcare. Depending which study you look at Texas ranks between 44th and 48th out of 50!!! Tort reform enacted by Texas Legislature in 2003- which capped non-economic damages to protect healthcare providers and hospitals (really their insurance companies) for paying for their negligent acts, was supposed to attract providers to the state. However tort reform has only made Texas healthcare worse. Less quality and higher cost, worse access. If you go to ER you may never see a doctor. Just a “physician’s assistant” who has had all of 27 months of training! They are simply not qualified to make medical decisions about patients! A physician may oversee a nearly unlimited number of PAs, and only have to conduct random spot checks! Be careful out there if you live in Texas! Bring a patient advocate with you! A close friend or relative!

The tort reform state lawmakers passed in 2003 made it more difficult for patients to win damages in any health care setting, but none more so than emergency rooms, where plaintiffs must prove doctors acted with "willful and wanton" negligence.
