It was a great day supporting our CFISD FFA. Big congrats to all of the students who put a lot of work into raising their animals for show. Today we were lucky to buy 3 lambs. Royal from our close friends daughter. Luna and Stacy from my old high school.

Greetings!

The $100,000 homestead exemption as well as the significant tax rate decrease for ISD’s are in full effect for 2023!!

Please check your local appraisal districts website or your local ISD tax website to see the significant reduction for that specific tax bill. This will help Texas taxpayers tremendously for years to come.

A significant tax bill was recently signed by Governor Greg Abbott after many emergency sessions between lawmakers. This will have significant impacts to all Texans across both residential and some commercial property. Key notes from the bill are as follows:

**Increasing the ISD Homestead Exemption from $40,000 to $100,000

**Placing a temporary cap of 20% on non-residential homestead properties as well as commercial properties valued $5,000,000 or less

**Reducing the overall ISD tax rate over a period of time 

With these new laws being implemented, we will be seeing an impact of tax savings on our tax bills. We are hopeful the ISD exemption increase as well as the tax rate cut will be instituted for this tax year.

At Haidamous and Associates, we love giving back to our community! Come out March 25th to Oak Meadow Park in Bridgeland. There will be bounce houses, face painting and ballons for the kiddos. Plate sales that go straight to the Bridgeland High Athletic and FFA Booster Clubs! Also great music by local artist and a car show!

*** New Homestead Law***

A new law effective January 1, 2022 will provide property tax relief by allowing homebuyers to file for homestead exemptions in the year when they purchase the property. Currently, new homeowners must wait until the following year to file for the exemption.

Elias- what does this mean for new property owners?

Excellent question!!

If you move in to your property between 1/1/2022 to 12/31/2022, you can file for your Homestead Exemption and get it for the entire year. Just remember, filing your Homestead Exemption is free!! You can do it the old fashioned way through snail mail or you can download the HCAD app and do it all via your phone. Just make sure your new address and your drivers license match!
