NO VALID ID? Can a Texas Notary Still Help?
There are many reasons a signer may not have a current physical ID. An ID may be lost, stolen, expired, or misplaced. A signer may have applied for a renewal or replacement and still be waiting for the new ID in the mail. Elderly individuals or people with mobility challenges may also have difficulty renewing their identification. Sometimes a client has only a photo or digital image after misplacing the physical ID.
Whatever the reason, identification requirements cannot simply be skipped.
Depending on the circumstances and the notarial act, Texas law may allow another permitted method of establishing identity. A credible witness may be an option when all applicable requirements are met. The notary must be satisfied with the signerβs identity before proceeding.
Donβt wait until the last minuteβand donβt take shortcuts. Never use another personβs ID or provide false information to complete a notarization.
If you have an ID concern, contact us before your appointment so we can discuss your situation and applicable notary requirements.
