On June 8, 2021, a three-story commercial building caught fire in downtown Los Angeles causing irreparable damage to the careers and livelihoods of 11 artists and business owners who my firm Pietz & Shahriari, LLP is honored to represent. Thank you ABC7 for covering this story. In the early morning of June 8, 2021, a three-story commercial building caught fire in downtown Los Angeles. My firm represents 11 artists and business owners who rented space on the second and third floors of the building. They suffered devastating losses to their livelihoods and careers. Among the things burned up and irretrievably damaged in the fire were finished pieces of art such as paintings and sculptures, as well as molds, tools, supplies, inspiration pieces and irreplaceable family mementos. Many of our clients saw what amounted to their entire life’s work go up in smoke. One year later, we filed a lawsuit to seek answers for what happened and to hold those responsible accountable.
