The Culpeper County Circuit Court Clerk's Office has officially adopted the new VADeed Alert system. This is a completely free notification service designed to help protect property owners from deed fraud.
How does it work?
VADeed Alert sends an email notification anytime certain documents are recorded in the land records that match your name, business name, or Tax Map/Parcel ID number.
This provides citizens with essential early awareness of possible deed fraud or unauthorized filings.
Sheriff Timothy Chilton, Commonwealth's Attorney Russ Rabb, and Circuit Court Clerk Carson Beard are jointly encouraging all Culpeper County residents to take advantage of this new resource. As Sheriff Chilton stated:
"Deed fraud can devastate families financially, and this alert system serves as an early warning that can make all the difference".
Important details to remember:
- The service is completely free to use and available to all property owners in Virginia.
- Enrollment is quick and can be completed online in just a few minutes.
- If you ever receive a notification of a recording you have no knowledge of, please call the Circuit Court Clerk's Office immediately at 540-727-3438.
