Scam reminder:
The vacant lot scams are stronger than ever. Today's episode included a really bad drivers license of the 'owner', who also had a really bad story about why he wanted to sell the land he purchased 4 months ago. "Jorge Alverez" claims to own a lot in Crystal Lake (spoiler: he doesn't). And his DL is a bad fake if you look at any of the information on it.

Last month we actually had a vacant lot 'close'. Fortunately, the title company made a mistake typing in the account number for the wire. That led to the whole deal unwinding and realizing it was a fraud. Yikes, way too close!

Oh and the Barrington lot for $5 million? That was good one too. A Heartland agent helped notify the actual owner that their land was listed for sale in the MLS with another agent who didn't realize they were being scammed.

At the very least get an ID, make sure it looks real, and double check the data with Forewarn.

Call Heartland as well. We're glad to help where we can.

Perhaps take the motto that it's not legit until you've exhausted all attempts to disprove it? And even then, check again!
