Halloween can get complicated fast when kids split their time between two homes. Who's taking them trick-or-treating? Where's the costume? Which parent is going to the school party?

Settling those questions a week or two ahead gives everyone time to adjust, and it keeps the night about your child instead of the schedule.

Put pickup and drop-off times in writing, share school event details as soon as you get them, and keep conversations with your co-parent focused on what's best for your kids.

Right after a crash, it’s hard to think clearly. Knowing the steps ahead of time can make those first few minutes a lot less overwhelming.

Here’s what to do, in order:

▪️ Check everyone for injuries and call 911 if anyone needs help
▪️ Move somewhere safe, away from traffic, if the vehicles can be moved
▪️ Swap names, insurance details, and contact information
▪️ Take photos of the vehicles, the damage, and the road
▪️ Skip the conversation about who caused it
▪️ See a doctor, and hang on to every record, bill, and receipt

You don't have to give a recorded statement right away, and it's completely fine to tell the adjuster you'd like to talk with an attorney first.

Get checked out by a doctor too, even if you feel mostly okay. Some injuries take days to show up, and a gap in your medical records can make it harder to connect an injury to the crash.

Just like any other relationship, business partnerships can be great...until they're not. We recommend having a partnership agreement in place to help with things like:

✅ Profit sharing, loss allocation, and withdrawals – There are many ways to handle the allocation of both profits and losses. Financial decisions like these should be decided upon beforehand and clearly lined out.
✅ Decision making – Who has the final say when a decision needs to be made? Is it decided by a vote? Have answers to these questions in your agreement so there is no ambiguity when it’s time to make a decision.
✅ Dispute resolution – Providing options other than court in your agreement (like mediation) can save the business time and money. It can also save a business relationship!
