Please be leery of scum and their scams on Facebook.
1. Missing children: There are many scam posts requesting that you share a picture of a missing child. If it’s real, it will most likely be issued by a specific agency and have their contact information. (See tips and explanation in pictures below)
2. Religious chain posts: Religious posts that say things like “share if you believe in God,” or threaten that if you don’t share, then you’re a sinner, stupid, or going to hell. (I’m paraphrasing). I’m fairly certain God is not on Facebook, nor does he need our likes nor shares, but scammers do, -so just know that when they switch out the picture or post—you have no idea what your name is attached to.
3. Legal: Sharing or liking a post does not affect your legal rights or property in any way. Neither does copying and pasting. I don’t even know what else to say here. It just doesn’t.
4. The Algorithm post: There are no magic Facebook algorithms that are changed by copying and pasting a post. Sharing or liking posts simply has no effect on math nor science. See number 3 above. It just doesn’t.
5. It is really easy to create fake content, fake news, etc. Maybe don’t help these idiots and liars boost their crap.
6. Surveys: Surveys asking for your maiden name, where you were born, where you grew up, your anniversary, or any other specific information are another scammer’s tool.
I assume everyone hates scammers, fake people, fake news, bu****it ads, chain posts, identity thiefs, and generally people wasting their time, as much as I do.
