Today Governor Pritzker signed a short-term executive order permitting remote notarization and witnessing by means of "two-way audio-visual" communication. This order will allow lawyers and their clients to execute wills, trusts, and other estate plan documents remotely. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve my clients while keeping everyone safe.

I'm pleased that this practice is under legal scrutiny. It's absurd to require low-wage workers to sign non-compete agreements.

The attorney general of Illinois on Wednesday filed a lawsuit claiming fast-food franchise Jimmy John's unlawfully requires its low-wage workers to sign agreements barring them from working at other sandwich shops in wide swaths of the country.
