The Rhode Island House votes on H7079 this Monday, May 12.

If it passes, people with multiple non-violent felony convictions could petition to clear their records for the first time in state history. The Senate has already approved it.

But there's more to this bill than the headline:
⚖️ Up to 4 non-violent felonies could become eligible
⏳ A 15-year waiting period applies — not 10
🚫 8 crimes are newly added to the permanent ineligibility list
👨‍⚖️ A judge still decides — you have to prove "good moral character"

Some people gain a path to expungement. Others lose eligibility they have right now under current law.
