Representing the people of District 26 has been a tremendous honor. I am humbled by the support of my constituents and grateful for their trust in me. Serving in the Senate is a responsibility I take very seriously, and I work each day to serve as a strong voice for District 26. After six terms, and coming up on my 62nd birthday next month, I believe the time has come to retire from the Senate.
I want to thank, first and foremost, my constituents, supporters, family and friends for their support over the years. Working to help a Cranston resident address a problem they were having was probably the most fulfilling part of the job. I also want to thank my colleagues in the Senate, so many of whom I am honored to count as friends. And most of all, I want to thank my wife and my daughters, who put up with the incredibly long hours, the frequent phone calls, and the countless obligations in my life over the past 12 years. I couldn’t have done it without their unwavering love and support.
