REAL ID-
If you need to renew your driver's license, change the address, have airline tickets in hand for a flight after May 7, or some combination thereof please come in.
If you do not meet the above criteria please consider waiting until things settle down.
Real ID is not mandatory. You need a Real ID to get into federal buildings, nuclear power plants, and to board commercial aircraft after May 7. However, you can also use another form of federal identification. For example, I am flying May 10. I do not have a Real ID. I will bring my passport.
If you want the Real ID, bring your birth certificate or unexpired passport; verification of your social security number; and two proofs of residency. Names must match across all documents. If the last name on your birth certificate is not on your current driver's license, bring a linking document (such as a marriage license).
You will take a new photo.
