The only value in owning a timeshare is the enjoyment you get out of using it. Although for many, the intention was to go every year and create memories to last a lifetime, but that usually isn’t the case.

Many also were told in a such a convincing manner, “Buy this timeshare now so you can create a nest egg for yourself and your family. When the times comes and you paid off the $25,000 mortgage, you’ll be able to sell it for a profit.” There’s an unfortunate reality to this. Do a simple search online. There are hundreds and thousands of others trying to off-load their timeshares for a dollar or less. Many of these timeshare owners will even give you a gift card for hundreds just to take it off their hands. These are timeshares that are paid off and all current on the annual fees. They are just people that see the benefit in not having to continue on paying for something for the rest of their life that they are just not using as much as they anticipated. There is no value of timeshares on the secondary market.

What deepens this financial wound are the other companies in the industry. The scam of owning a timeshare is usually followed with another scam attempting to get rid of it. Most of our clients have gone down the path of paying another company to sell it, rent it, or even to exit out of their contract. These companies will often flat out lie to you and say, “We have a buyer lined up to purchase your specific timeshare”, or “We will have it sold in 3,6, or 9 months, just pay us this nominal fee so we can prepare all the transfer documents”, and the list goes on and on. The thing is, when you were told this it was said verbally, and the contracts you sign with these companies will say nothing of the sort. This is how these companies operate. The contract cancellation companies will tell you that it usually takes around 6 to 9 months to exit you out of your timeshare, but their contracts usually say it will take “x” or more amount of months. This provides them an indefinite amount of time to complete the agreement.
