I was just going to post my disgust of another man killing his wife, and family; and, the related post.

But before I could, I read this story about a young mother killing her two infants and husband. And then herself.

Nightmares.

An online fundraiser posted in the wake of the tragic incident described Marine as a “a caring mother and wife” who “enjoyed gatherings among her loved ones.”

It should be illegal for a business not to açcept cash.

First, and most obviously it is our legal currency.

Second, once everything is converted to credit cards and digital and cash app, etc. it will be easy for the government to totally take away all of your civil rights regarding freedoms, take away your ability to spend take, take away your ability to purchase food. They can take away your right to pay your utility bills water. They can track where you are 24/7 by where you buy gas, where you buy groceries, where you are paying rent.

The ultimate control, oppression and repression.

The ultimate lack of privacy by tracking your purchases and your location, etc.

Had to hustle in court because it was possible that the judge will not accept the plea bargain agreement as being too lenient, based upon the indictment itself, which alleged my client was a continual sexual abuser. Continual sexual abuse is punishable by life in prison.

"Judge my client has diagnosed severe mental problems. He went into the interview room at the police station with two officers by himself and apparently without consulting an attorney.

He admitted to the police to doing these actions against his biological sister when he was 13 years of age and a minor. Therefore, that is proof that he admitted to doing the crimes. But he has no criminal responsibility as an adult. When the mother found out about these allegations when they were children she moved one child out of the house so he wouldn't have had the opportunity to do this as an adult."

The Judge accepted the plea agreement.

Talking to someone. Telling them about how some years ago, a client of mine was found guilty of "assault on an officer" in Refugio County. Pretty sure that is the smallest county in Texas

Explaining that when picking the jury, we always ask the possible jurors: Does anyone know the Defendant? Does anyone know anything about him? Does anyone know any of the police officers? Etc. Not one of the prospective jurors raised their hands.

After my client was found guilty at trial we proceeded to sentencing.

I told the jury at sentencing, basically, that I think the case is ridiculous. My client who was husky, still had no weapons or knives. So he hit an officer who had a gun, and pepper spray, and a baton. And there were at least two or three other officers there. Big deal. What do we pay these officers for? Aren't they supposed to be ready to fight when it's time? This officer who was struck, wasn't really in any danger.

The main problem at sentencing, in the case, was my client was a habitual felony offender, as I recall. That means he had two previous convictions that he had been to prison for. It was a twenty five year minimum sentence. And in defense of the prosecutor I do think they offered him a relatively fair plea bargain, and offered to drop the two felonies that enhanced his sentence.

My client did not help himself when he took the stand during the sentencing portion of the jury trial and basically admitted, in a kind of bragging way, that he had gang affiliations.

Later, someone who was on the jury came to my office for representation on a social security disability case.

She actually told me , "Oh, we all know Carlo, he always gets drunk and fights with the police."

The question is, why should you have to explain having $90,000.00 in cash in your possession. That does not invoke questions regarding your civil liberties?

On my plea for men who kill their families, and then kill themselves. Please just skip to yourself, first . On mistrials in court and if they aid the defense or the prosecution. On slang language and “86”ing someone. On DWI’s while on legal medication.

I don't know. I didn't read the whole article. I think it should be left up to the local district attorneys and courts.

And I don't understand how we're supposed to afford to pay to put people in prison for fifty or sixty years. And this issue is never intelligently discussed by conservatives.

These Politicians are not sociologists , and they are not penologists. They act like they know everything about everything, and oftentimes it is just based upon a simplistic political position that is getting them votes.

Gov. Greg Abbott says the proposals are aimed at protecting victims and keeping repeat offenders behind bars, while Travis County DA José Garza dismissed the effort as a “political stunt.”
