Did you know we have a podcast? “Seeking Refuge, Living Free”

We dropped Episode 02 a couple weeks ago talking about a frequent topic at the center of immigration – the issues of what is happening at the southern U.S. border.

Head over to our website to listen to Episode 02 and what we have to say about the caravan of over 15,000 people traveling through Central America to the U.S., President Biden possibly lifting Title 42, and how immigrants and refugees should legally seek asylum.

Go to https://www.sojournerlawfirm.com/media to listen and make sure to follow us so you know when we drop our next post and podcast!

Meet Sojourner Law Firm!

We are a husband and wife team dedicated to serving our refugee and immigrant neighbors with excellence, honor, and integrity in the Great Pittsburgh Region through Immigration Law and Removal Defense/Asylum.

Ryan Driscoll is our Managing Attorney and a graduate from Duquesne University School of Law. He started his career with a non-profit organization dedicated to serving immigrants and refugees of limited means. He has represented immigrants from over 40 nations in all aspects of family-based immigration, naturalization, consular processing, and removal defense.

Monica Driscoll is our Chief Operations Officer / Paralegal and a graduate from Roberts Wesleyan College and George Mason University. She worked in the legal world alongside Ryan as the program director at a non-profit and was responsible for organizational operations and community relations development. Monica has also served as a volunteer friendship partner and client advocate in one of the refugee communities in Pittsburgh for the last 4 years.

Together we are committed to provide high-quality legal representation and advocate for immigrants and refugees as they journey towards permanent residency, family reunification, and citizenship. And our desire is that we would point all of our fellow sojourners to our eternal home by honoring Jesus the Messiah, and serving them as He would serve them and as He already served them.

How does Reckless Endangering Another Person affect your immigration status?

If convicted of a crime the main concern for non-citizens is whether it could make you deportable or inadmissible.
There are different regulations to decide which category you could fall under so read more about the difference between both of these in our article below and what Pennsylvania REAP statute says.
– – –
Anytime you are accused of a crime, and you are not a U.S. Citizen, it is incredibly important to speak with an experienced immigration attorney who understands the implications on your immigration status if you are convicted.

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨

Temporary Protected Status has been granted to Afghans already living in the United States as of March 15, 2022.

TPS allows the Secretary of Homeland Security to give individuals a temporary stay in the U.S. so that nationals from that nation do not have to return to unsafe conditions in their home nation.

If you entered the US without a visa you need to apply for an Unlawful Presence Waiver (a I-601A Waiver).

The typical situation of when a provisional waiver for unlawful presence is filed is when a non-citizen entered the US without a visa, and has since married a US Citizen.

In most green card cases, the non-citizen spouse can file for a marriage-based adjustment of status. However, in this case, the non-citizen spouse is ineligible to file an adjustment of status application while in the US, under INA § 245(a), because they did not enter the U.S. on a visa.

If you’re in this situation then read our newest article that describes the process by which the waiver is filed and the legal requirements of establishing “extreme hardship.”
