Well that escalated quickly.

“MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A now-former police detective in South Carolina is facing charges after he allegedly pulled a gun on a patrolman for heating up fish in the microwave at the police department.

Michael DeBiase, 46, of Myrtle Beach, is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person after the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was asked to investigate the situation.

The incident happened Saturday at the Myrtle Beach Police Department on North Oak Street. According to an arrest warrant, DeBiase confronted a MBPD patrolman about him warming up fish in the microwave, which “caused an odor in the office.”

The warrant said that during the confrontation, DeBiase drew and pointed his department-issued handgun at the patrolman.

SLED said Tuesday that DeBiase was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.”

Sadly these situations continue occurring. Not everyone wearing that uniform does so with integrity. We commend the detective for his courage.

Sometimes it’s not easy to sugarcoat or be “politically correct” or soft. Sheriff Boudreaux made it very clear where he stands after a deputy was kiIIed in Porterville, California.
The suspect barricaded himself, continued the threat, and was ultimately kiIIed when law enforcement ran him over, stopping any further harm from being done to anyone else.

Deputy Logan Utt, husband, father, U.S. military veteran and firefighter, lost his life this weekend when he was shot during a wellness check call in Cana, Virginia.

The shooter fired at Deputy Utt and a second Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputy as soon as they arrived on scene. The other deputy was hit in his ballistic vest, but Utt was fatally injured. The shooter fled the scene but was arrested Sunday in North Carolina after a 2-day manhunt.

As Deputy Utt's funeral procession takes place today, we are sending our deepest condolences, love and support to his loving family that now has to face every law enforcement family's worst nightmare. A friend of this fallen deputy posted last night: "I am reminded of the impact that Logan Utt had on so many of our lives. I can't think of a bad one. This was a positive of a person you could get. He was a friend to so many. If you knew him you loved him."

Unfortunately for this driver, Officer Alex Brock didn't mistake his dangling air freshener for a valid disabled parking permit. 🧐

REMINDER - if you have a valid disabled parking permit, you must properly display it in your vehicle & the person it is assigned to must be traveling in the car. And if you DON'T have a valid disabled parking permit, leave these spots alone or be ready to receive a $250 fine.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our former brother, Max Vose.

Last night, Max lost his long and courageous battle with colorectal cancer.

Max was the kind of firefighter people enjoyed being around. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of the job, and the positive impact he had on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Whether on a call, around the station, or simply sharing a laugh with friends, Max left an impression that will not be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Kaylee, and their three children.

On behalf of the Professional Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs of Lake County, IAFF Local 3990, we extend our deepest condolences to Kaylee, their children, and all of Max’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest easy, brother.
