Attending the panel “Anti-Piracy and Real-Time Enforcement: Streaming, IPTV, and Social Clips” at the ASIPI Annual Meeting in Asunción was a great opportunity to learn about the evolving challenges of protecting sports and entertainment content in the digital age.

A special highlight was listening to Cristián Mir, who shared valuable insights from the LaLiga anti-piracy enforcement experience and the fight against illegal retransmission of sports content. It was particularly meaningful to see Cristián on this panel, as he is the son of our longtime friend, colleague, and trusted associate in Chile. Watching the next generation of IP professionals take a leadership role in these important discussions is truly rewarding.

Congratulations to the panelists for an excellent presentation on one of the most pressing issues facing rights holders today.

A morning well spent at ASIPI Asunción, beginning with meetings and discussions with colleagues from Paraguay, Venezuela, Japan, and other jurisdictions, followed by insightful educational sessions on current developments in intellectual property law.

One of the highlights was attending the conference “Ambush Marketing in Sporting Events: Limits, Sanctions, and Asset Protection,” which explored the legal challenges surrounding sponsorship rights, trademark protection, brand enforcement, and the safeguarding of intellectual property assets in major sporting events.

These international gatherings provide an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen professional relationships, gain comparative legal perspectives, and stay informed on emerging trends affecting brand owners across the globe.
