🎓✈️ College Bound? Don’t Forget the Legal Docs!

If you have a child heading off to college this fall, it’s time to think beyond dorm shopping and course schedules.

Once your child turns 18, you no longer have automatic access to their medical or financial information—even in an emergency.

📄 I recommend every college student have:
   •   A Durable Power of Attorney
   •   A Health Care Surrogate & HIPAA Release
   •   A Living Will (optional but wise)

These essential documents ensure that you can step in if something unexpected happens—from medical decisions to banking needs.

As an attorney (and a parent), I help families prepare quickly and affordably.

📬 DM me or call/text if you’d like to get this checked off your list before move-in day!

An Executor is a person who administers a person’s estate upon their death. In Florida, the executor is referred to as a “personal representative”.

The executor carries out the wishes of the deceased person based on the instructions indicated in their Will or Trust documents. This is a large responsibility as they ensure the assets are distributed to the intended beneficiaries.

Landlords in Florida have a legal right to evict tenants from their rental property.

Some of the most common reasons for initiating an eviction process:

🖋Tenant failed to pay the rent

🖋Tenant did NOT follow their lease’s rules (e.g. keeping a pet when it is not allowed)

🖋Tenant did NOT maintain the unit according to the minimum standards set by the Florida Law

If your’re facing any landord/tenant issues, call me for a complimentary consultation.

A Will is a legal document that describes and clarifies your wishes regarding the distribution of your assets and the care of your children after your death.

If you die without a Will, the state of Florida will determine how your assets will be distributed.

When preparing a Will there are several factors to consider such as previous marriages, children, and long-term partners.

A Will is not a do-it-yourself project, you must conform to Florida law.

🖋A Trust is a legal Fiduciary arrangement that allows you to set up your assets to be held and managed by a third party, this party is known as the Trustee.

The Trustee is responsible for ensuring that your Estate is handled in the manner you have outlined.

Trusts are used to hold assets for one or more beneficiaries, and they may offer significant state tax and other benefits. This is all part of an Estate Plan.

There are several types of Trusts, each with its own purpose.

Contact me to explore what type of Estate Planing best meets your needs.
