Equality is more than a milestone. It is a commitment.

Women’s Equality Day marks an important moment in our nation’s legal history and provides an opportunity to recognize the generations of women — inside and outside the practice of law — whose leadership, advocacy and perseverance have helped advance equality.

We are keenly aware of the vital role that the law plays as the ultimate guardian of equality. Our collective pursuit of equality is strengthened by the women who lead, advocate and contribute their precious perspectives to our profession and our country every day.

Today, we celebrate the women who lead, advocate, challenge convention and work tirelessly to make our community better for us all.

Congratulations to our Founding Partner Jeffrey Bass on earning recognition in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for Litigation – Land Use and Zoning.

Unlike most, Jeff has litigated land use matters from a variety of perspectives, including the public sector, the private sector, not-for-profits, and neighborhood and environmental groups. Based on decades in the trial courts and the appellate courts, precious few lawyers possess both Jeff’s vision and experience. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.

The outstanding applicants for the Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers (MDFAWL) Foundation Scholarships continue to raise the bar. Each application showcases resilience, determination and a deep commitment to serving others through the legal profession.

We are proud to congratulate this year's Bass Law Scholarship recipients, Emma Berman, Kelly Liang and Makayla Vaughns. Their academic achievements, commitment to their communities and passion for the law reflect the qualities of tomorrow's legal leaders, and we are honored to support them as they pursue their legal careers.

Through its annual scholarships, the MDFAWL Foundation expands educational opportunities for aspiring women lawyers and empowers the next generation of legal leaders. Bass Law is honored to partner with the Foundation to recognize and support these exceptional future attorneys.

At Bass Law, we believe in paying it forward by investing in the next generation of legal talent and helping create opportunities for future leaders to succeed.

On this World Environment Day we wish to highlight the work of all who labor in the name of sustainability to address our vulnerabilities to extreme weather events such as hurricanes, wildfires, drought, and flooding.

Today, we wish to specifically highlight the scholarship of Newsha Ajami and her colleagues at Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and its Sustainable Societies Initiatives. Our founder - Jeff Bass - was invited this week to travel to Stanford's Doerr School and participate in the inaugural roundtable discussion of Governance for Risk, Resilience, and Recovery (GR3). The discussants included climate scientists, earth scientists, fire experts, seismologists, political scientists, legal scholars, insurance industry leaders, and governmental regulators.

The discussion focused on how institutions, communities, and markets can better prepare for, respond to, and recover from increasingly complex climate-related risks. Topics ranged from the future of insurance in regions vulnerable to extreme weather to strategies for accelerating recovery through land use and zoning regulations.

We are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to participate in this important dialogue and we wish to thank Newsha and all of her colleagues at Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability for hosting this august assembly of thought-leaders.

Our Founding Partner, Jeffrey Bass, earned a Band 1 ranking in Chambers USA 2026 for Real Estate: Zoning and Land Use Litigation.

This recognition reflects Jeff's thirty-year commitment to the artful navigation of complex legal issues in the fields of land use, zoning, real property, and constitutional law.

The ranking also recognizes the work Bass Law performs on behalf of municipalities, universities, businesses, developers, and individuals involved in significant real estate and land use matters across the state.

We are grateful to our clients, colleagues, and peers for their continued trust and support. Their confidence in our work makes achievements such as this possible.

We congratulate Jeff on this well-deserved recognition and thank everyone who contributed their time and perspective throughout the Chambers research process.

The Daily Business Review recently featured our Partner Deana Falce in its article on attorney mothers and the myth of work-life balance.

Deana reflects on raising her twin boys while building a successful legal practice and navigating the demands that come with both. She underscores a central theme that balance is not about perfection. It comes from focusing on what matters most in each moment and being fully present for it.

Drawing on her experience as both an attorney and a mother, Deana shares this advice for new attorney mothers:

“Don’t stress the small things. You’re never going to feel like you’re doing great at both things at one time. One step at a time, and your best is enough.”

This Earth Day, Bass Law celebrates Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and the Aspen Institute - Nicholas Institute Water Policy Forum. Duke University’s Nicholas School is home to some of the most vitally important scholarship on the planet — about the planet. In collaboration with the Aspen Institute, Duke’s Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability is working to develop consensus around a national water policy strategy to align water policy at the local, regional, state, and federal levels to ensure a safe and affordable water supply for our nation and its future.

Founding Partner Jeffrey Bass recently visited the Duke Forest Aquatic Research Facility, where uniquely bred zebrafish are used to study the impact of temperature and chemical exposures on human health. There, Jeff witnessed a zebrafish on a “fish treadmill” where scientists can study the effect of chemical exposure on fish VO2, kidney function, memory, and heart function. The visit highlighted both the urgency of this work and the important role institutions like Duke University and the Aspen Institute play in researching and addressing today’s environmental challenges.
