CONGRATULATIONS! Meet Elmer Lucille Allen, the first Black woman chemist at Brown-Forman, a trailblazer who helped open doors in science when few existed.

Reflecting on her journey, Allen once said, "I didn’t see barriers. I saw work that needed to be done." In the 1960s, she entered the STEM field during a time when opportunities for Black women were extremely limited, breaking both racial and gender barriers through perseverance and excellence.

Her work not only advanced scientific innovation but also created pathways for future generations. Now at 94 years old, Allen continues to inspire through creativity, learning, and community engagement. Her story is a powerful reminder that progress is built by those willing to move forward even when the road ahead has never been walked before.

That jacket made every kid feel like they had a mortgage payment and an opinion on the thermostat. Hands in the pockets. One foot crossed. Slight lean. Fully convinced this fit meant you were basically grown. Didn’t matter if you were ten or thirty five, this jacket turned you into the main character on the back deck 🍂😤
