Today we celebrate 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, honoring the courage and resilience of our African ancestors whose struggle for freedom continues to inspire the Caribbean and the world.

As we mark the abolition of slavery in the British Caribbean on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭, 𝟭𝟴𝟯𝟰, we reflect on this year’s theme, “𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀,” and the ongoing pursuit of justice, truth, and equity.

We also remember those lost in the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟴𝟰𝟮 and honor the victims of the 𝗠𝗩 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟬) in St. Kitts and Nevis, as we mark its 56th anniversary. We hold their families in prayer and honor the strength of the Caribbean community.

As we prepare for this historic celebration, we remember that our freedom journey includes moments of reflection.

We honor the lives impacted by racial violence and injustice, including the Philadelphia Riot of 1842, which occurred during a period when Black Immigrant communities gathered to commemorate 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
