The State of Ohio requires the signature of a notary public on all car titles. Notaries public in Ohio are certified and registered with the state. Notaries provide witness to signatures, ensuring that all persons signing any document are who they say they are.

Step 1
Find the copy of your vehicle title that you wish to sell, or get a replacement title from DMV.

Step 2
Download a copy of the Ohio Bmv Bill of Sale from Internet. ( some notaries keep these on hand)

Step 3
You and Buyer Visit a notary public in Ohio.

Step 4
Provide the notary public with your photo identifications and the title and Bill of Sale.... BEFORE you sign your name. The notary public will not notarize your document without proof of your identity. Nor will they sign notarize a document not signed in their presence.

Your notary is the expert on the laws and can help you complete the forms in accordance to the law.
