While this sign may make you chuckle, in Colorado, we have seen an uptick in serious crashes, and violent, even fatal confrontations around road rage. Last year I handled a civil case involving the death of a delivery driver who was killed by a "street racer" who was drinking and had a history of reckless and violent behavior in automobiles. The large monetary settlement we obtained could never be enough for the victim's family. We can't control what others do, but we can start with ourselves and teach our kids at the same time. When you find yourself frustrated or agitated by traffic or other drivers...breathe. Focus on your breath and remind yourself that you are breathing in...you are breathing out. Say it out loud if it helps. Turn off your music and take in the peacefulness of that exercise. You may find it helpful to download Apps like Calm or Insight Timer and listen to calming meditations in stressful driving situations. Be mindful, aware, calm and stay safe.
