As of January 2025, under Labor Section 196-b, some New York employers may be required provide 20 hours of paid prenatal leave.

This leave may be used for prenatal medical appointments or any pregnancy-related healthcare needs.

As of January 2025, the overtime salary threshold is increasing in New York. If you’re an exempt executive or administrative employee, make sure you’re meeting the new minimums:

 NYC, Long Island, Westchester: $1,237.50/week
 Rest of NY State: $1,161.65/week

A food service worker is defined as any employee who serves food or beverages to guests, patrons or customers. The definition includes wait staff, bartenders, captains and bussing personnel. Starting this year, the allowable “tip credit” for food service workers has increased, as we’ve outlined above.
