"Like many men in the South, Robert Wadkins Jr. and Ben Wallace’s friendship was forged as teenagers in pads and helmets trying to kill each other.
Robert Wadkins played four years on the offensive and defensive line for Pacelli High School, graduating in 2001.
“I used to be much bigger,” Wadkins said. “I’ve lost like 100 pounds, so I used to be a little more imposing.”
Ben Wallace played for Brookstone School, also on the offensive and defensive line, graduating in 2002.
“I was a hard guy to block,” Wallace said. “Some might say, elusive … I kinda ran around people.”
The Columbus natives first met as bitter rivals, staring across a line of scrimmage with sweat in their eyes, fury in their hearts and a singular goal pulsing through their minds—destroy that guy."
