Grateful to friends and volunteers who joined us in Cuyahoga Falls this weekend to knock doors.

We are 35 days from Election Day. We have almost run out of yard signs, and have put in an order for more. If you live in the counties of Lorain, Summit, Medina, or Wayne please send me a message if you’d like one, along with your address, and we’ll get it delivered to you!

Today marks the start of a new chapter as I begin service as a Judge on the Ninth District Court of Appeals, but I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past eleven and a half years and thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me. Representing people of Lorain, Huron, and Erie counties in the Ohio General Assembly since 2015 has been an incredible honor.

The most rewarding part of public service is being able to help people. I’ve had the privilege to work with constituents on crafting many new Ohio laws, including: ensuring access to emergency prescription refills, protecting victims of domestic violence with numerous new protections, and strengthening public safety while giving Ohioans a genuine path to second chances.

I also enjoyed serving as Chair of the House Criminal Justice Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Gaming. But one of the best parts of all this work has been the people involved. Whether at office hours, community events or running into people around the district, getting to know and create lasting relationships with so many community members has been very meaningful to me. Part of that privilege was also working with legislative aides whose support and expertise made a tremendous impact for so many people, and to whom I owe a heartfelt thank you: Jordan Triance, Joe Gruber, Kate Oliveti, Heather Plahuta, Lexie Davis, Brendon Embry, Lindsay Murch, Brady Kuhn, Ellie Moores, and Hannah Pleasant.

Thank you for trust in allowing me to represent you at the Ohio Statehouse. It has meant more to me than words can express, and I look forward to what comes next.

With gratitude,
Nathan Manning

Today we celebrate an important day in our nation’s history: the day all enslaved African Americans were finally freed. Despite the Emancipation Proclamation having took effect in 1863, enslaved individuals in the farthest confederate state, Texas, had not been told of their freedom.

Their liberation didn’t come until over two years later on June 19th, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas announcing the federal decree that slavery had been abolished, officially freeing the remaining enslaved African Americans.

Over 150 years later, we mark this historic day by remembering all of those who lived without freedom and honor their lives by ensuring freedom continues to ring across our nation for generations to come.

I am excited to share that the Capital Budget Appropriations Bill, Senate Bill 450, has officially been signed by Governor Mike DeWine, resulting in over 10 million dollars being brought back to Lorain County!

Organizations that received funding include Lorain County Safe Harbor, Neighborhood Alliance, and Lorain County Community College which received over 6 million dollars. These funds will be directed towards remodeling projects, structural renovations, and facility expansions to ensure ensure these organizations can continue to provide their important services to our communities.

I am always grateful for the opportunities that allow me to work closely with such dedicated community leaders and greatly appreciate their collaboration throughout this process!

Read more about these funds here:

The capital budget is biennial, or every two years. it is how the state funds construction, renovation, public works and community projects. The bill now goes to Gov. Mike DeWine for his signature.

Today in Columbus, flags are lowered at half staff in honor of the life of Senator Jeffry Armbruster.

It was a privilege to have his family and friends in session with us on Wednesday to honor his memory. Senator Armbruster was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and I am grateful for the impact he had on my life and for his years of dedicated service to the state of Ohio.

This Memorial Day, we honor the members of our nations military who sacrificed so much in service to our nation. We are grateful for their courage and selflessness to preserve our freedom.

Last Thursday, at the Governor's annual wreath laying ceremony in Columbus, we honored those Ohioans who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, we remember their service and honor their legacy.
