Mr. Barnes received his baccalaureate, magna cm laude, from Lincoln University (PA) and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. While at Lincoln University, he was honored as a Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholar, having the privilege of attending a summer scholastic program at Villanova University School of Law, where he participated and competed with other honor students in a debate exhibition and mock trial. At the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Mr. Barnes had the distinction of spending a semester serving as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Cathy Bissoon of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was bestowed with a community service award upon graduation from Pitt Law. Barnes dedicated five years of his career serving the public as a prosecuting attorney, initially as an assistant district attorney and later as assistant solicitor general, successfully trying numerous cases; educating peace officer cadets; and prosecuting countless cases in superior, state, magistrate, probate, and juvenile courts. Barnes is happily married and enjoys exercising, reading, and solving Rubik's Cubes. He is a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, Alabama State Bar, District of Columbia Bar, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Additionally, attorney Barnes is a member of the National College for DUI Defense.
