A message from the President of the South Carolina Bar:

The leadership of the South Carolina Bar is deeply troubled about the tragic death of George Floyd in Minnesota. This event serves as a painful reminder that for too long, African Americans and other minorities have not received fair enforcement and equal administration of justice.

A key element of the South Carolina Bar’s mission is to continually improve the administration of justice throughout the Palmetto State for all our citizens. We recognize there is much work to be done. To that end—the oath we all took as lawyers to uphold the Constitution and to ensure justice is available to all citizens—will guide us.

As lawyers, we are problem-solvers, critical thinkers and community servants. Our voices will be needed in the days and weeks ahead as our state and nation form solutions. We support all of our members and stand with you against injustice, racism and discrimination.

We are committed to the principle of equal justice for all and will join our communities in reflection, conversation and action to make a positive difference in South Carolina and the United States.

Isaiah DaSean Pendergrass Obituary

Isaiah DaSean Pendergrass COLUMBIA Funeral services for Mr. Isaiah DaSean Pendergrass will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (viewing at 12:00 noon) at the Second Nazareth Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Lincoln Cemetery. Public viewing will be held today beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel. Surviving are: his mother, LaShawn Alston; father, Fernando Pendergrass; brother, DeAngelo Alston; m. grandmother, Mary Graham; m. grandfather, Billy Graham; p. grandmother, Nellie Pendergrass; other loving relatives and friends.

Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin welcomed Attorney Willie Bradley, Attorney Clifford Hardwick, and future attorney (and my beautiful daughter) Trivia Bradley to City Hall. Attorney Hardwick is the Father of Actor Omari Hardwick, who plays "James St. Patrick" a/k/a "Ghost" on the Starz Network hit series "Power." Attorney Hardwick was the first African-American Judge in Dekalb County, (Atlanta) Georgia. A special Thanks to Mayor Benjamin and his staff for welcoming us with open-arms and showing Mr. Hardwick why we are truly a Capital City!
