Hello, good afternoon and Happy Holidays! I have had many of you reach out to me regarding the co-parenting post I had made. I appreciate all the support and encouragement! One important thing: As much as I would love to represent those who have called, I am only licensed to practice in Middle Tennessee.

Quick holiday tip though for those exchanges coming up. Holidays are stressful. I understand your ex may be a narcissist, may be this, may be that, is running late just to mess with you. However, save it for a rainy day. Document the behavior, be forgiving where you can, and wait until the New Year to bring it to Court - absent an absolute emergency.

Your ex being late by 30 minutes/1 hour, is not an emergency.

Your ex not paying you alimony/child support by the end of the month, is not an emergency.

Your ex taking your child to meet a significant other is most likely not an emergency.

My office will be closed from December 24th through the remainder of the year. My first day back will be January 5, 2026.

Wishing y'all a safe, healthy, happy holiday season.

We will be out of the office from November 24th through November 28th. Wishing you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

See y'all on December 1st.

Oftentimes I see people posting on platforms asking for advice on uncontested divorces. Although this is something that can be done without an attorney, it is hard to do so when you have real property and children involved as there are specific forms and language required. My office has started offering representation for uncontested divorces for a flat fee. This provides clients with peace of mind knowing that their case is being done correctly and efficiently. If this is a service you need completed, please call my office at 615-723-8686 or pm my page.

Happy Monday and Happy First Day of School, Maury County! I hope everyone has a fantastic school year.

Just going to start us off with a friendly piece of advice to make sure that our school age kids are set up for academic success:

Make sure that your parenting plan meets your child's needs, it is reasonable and can be followed. We don't want to set any parent up for failure because ultimately, that would negatively affect the child in one way or another. Assess your plan to:

1. Assure that the child can get to school on time. Tardies and absences may result in truancy actions against the child and educational neglect actions against the parents.

If the child is consistently late to school or absent from school while in the care of a parent, this may necessitate a modification in the plan.

2. Assure that the child can thrive academically. Every child is different and the plan needs to specifically address their needs - ie homework completed, smooth transitions without major disruptions that carry over into the school day.

If the child is consistently dysregulated, and it's affecting their mental capacity at school - it may necessitate a modification.

If the homework is not being completed, it may necessitate a modification.

Key things to remember - you and the other parent are a team. I can promise neither want to see your child struggle in school. If you start to come across issues, please discuss and try to figure out a resolution.

And if you can't - call me at 615-723-8686

As many of you know, the address currently listed is my mailing address. However, that is going to change as I have acquired an office space conveniently located right on the Square.

After I have officially moved in, I will be inviting the community to visit, enjoy some light refreshments and essentially do a meet and greet. Stay tuned for additional details as to the date.

It has been a while since I have posted. Just wanted to touch base real briefly on a few things:

1. In an effort to save you time, my office is transparent with our rates. They are posted on our website at www.myfamilylawoffice.llc . You will still need to call to get a better understanding of what your exact quote would be as every case and scenario is different.

2. I am looking for a physical office however, my office is virtual currently. I am in Court more times than not so dropping in to see me is not really an option. I can arrange to meet with you, but you'll need to make an appointment.

3. Choosing an attorney:
I would be happy to represent you. I hope that you'll retain me. However, we have tons of absolutely fantastic attorneys in the area. This is a relationship of trust. You will need to trust your attorney to represent your interests and in return, your attorney will need to trust you to listen to their advice and not do anything that could potentially jeopardize your interests. It is absolutely ok to call and interview with your attorneys to see if you and them can form this relationship. Litigation can be lengthy, you need to have someone you can get along with.

Always trying to learn the latest and greatest in order to best serve my clients and my community. It was the greatest honor to attend Dawn Coppock's last seminar before her retirement.

A little tip, especially when it comes to co-parenting issues:

If you do not have a healthy co-parenting relationship with the other parent, assume everything you say will be used against you in Court - because it will. It will be used out of context too. Keep records of text messages and other conversations. If it does not specifically involve the child - ignore it.

If the other parent starts berating you via text - let them, ignore it, print it off and move on - save it for later. If it's over a telephone conversation - that's what that lovely red button is for - you just go on ahead and hang up, enjoy the rest of your day.

If you get pulled into the drama and say things back - it looks worse on you and on the situation. If it's one sided - it presents a clear picture of where the issue lies and who the issue lies with.

If you are needing representation for a custody matter, give our office a call for a free consultation! 615-723-8686
