We are saddened to share the passing of Edward D. “Butch” Barnhill, Jr., a respected attorney, colleague, and friend. Butch devoted nearly five decades to the practice of law in Columbia, earning the trust of clients and the admiration of those who had the privilege to work alongside him. His commitment to his profession, his community, and his colleagues left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

We are grateful for Butch’s many contributions to our firm and the legal community, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

He was a legend within his profession and a blessing to all who knew him. He was genuinely devoted to the practice of law and improving how lawyers treat each other.
