FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Patrick M. Carter Named Chair-Elect of Tennessee Bar Foundation Board of Trustees

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Patrick M. Carter, an attorney with Wolaver, Carter & Hogan, has been confirmed as Chair-Elect of the Board of Trustees of the Tennessee Bar Foundation during the Foundation’s annual meeting in Knoxville in June.

Carter will serve a one-year term as Chair-Elect before assuming the role of Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees in June 2027.

Established in 1982, the Tennessee Bar Foundation is one of the state’s leading legal organizations dedicated to advancing equal access to justice. The Foundation administers Tennessee’s Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program, recognizes distinguished attorneys as Fellows—an honor bestowed upon fewer than five percent of Tennessee lawyers—and provides financial support for law-related public interest initiatives across the state.

Through the IOLTA program, the Foundation plays a critical role in expanding access to legal services for Tennesseans in need. In 2025, the Foundation announced grants totaling $3 million to support Tennessee’s legal aid organizations and nonprofit groups that provide legal assistance to low-income residents and work to improve the administration of justice throughout the state.

“It is an honor to serve the Tennessee Bar Foundation and its mission of promoting equal access to justice,” Carter said. “The Foundation’s work has a meaningful impact on communities across Tennessee by supporting organizations that provide vital legal services to those who otherwise could not afford them. I look forward to helping further that mission.”

Carter practices with Wolaver, Carter & Hogan and is active in numerous legal and civic organizations throughout Tennessee. His election to the Foundation’s leadership reflects his longstanding commitment to the legal profession and to public service.
