Exciting news from the desk of Governor Mike Parson. He signed an Executive Order today waiving the need for witnesses and notaries to be present in person in order to properly execute documents such as wills, trust, power of attorneys, and deeds. This order is effective until May 15th. If you were worried about doing estate planning right now, this takes out a big health concern. Read the EO here:

Well, it's only been a year and a half since I posted anything on this site. But since the courts are closed until May 1st, maybe this is a good time to start talking about probate and estate planning again. Primarily, how to avoid probate with your estate plan. I'll try and update this once or twice a day so you can learn a little bit about the process and hopefully demystify estate planning. More on the Robert Stephens Sunshine Law suit in Greene County. Great commentary on our Summary Judgment argument we had yesterday but sort of overshadowed by allegations we’ve made stating the SPOA defamed Mr. Stephens and abused the legal process with their claim. Check out the News-Leader coverage here:

One year later, Bob Stephens and the police union continue to be tied up in a legal battle, with another possible lawsuit on the horizon.
