Another dining option is coming to Waugh Chapel!

Wonder is opening its newest location in Gambrills on October 15, bringing menus from more than 20 restaurants together under one roof.

The concept is pretty interesting. Rather than everyone having to agree on one restaurant, you can order different types of food from the same place, whether you're dining in, picking up, or having it delivered.

The grand opening kicks off at 10:15 a.m., and the first 100 customers who spend at least $10 will receive a swag bag.

I'm curious how this one will do at Waugh Chapel. Has anyone tried Wonder at one of their other locations? Worth checking out?

Fire Prevention Week 🔥

Here’s your two-minute homeowner check:

✓ Test your smoke alarms
✓ Check the date on them. Smoke alarms generally need to be replaced every 10 years.
✓ Check your dryer vent for lint buildup
✓ Make sure fire extinguishers are accessible
✓ Know how you’d get out if your normal exit was blocked

None of this is complicated. Which is exactly why it’s easy to put off.

50 years of Renn Fest. Right here in Anne Arundel County.

It’s easy to forget how big of a deal the Maryland Renaissance Festival actually is.

Every fall, 27 acres in Crownsville turn into Revel Grove, with more than 200 performers, 140+ artisans, jousting, food, music, shows and an impressive number of people fully committed to the assignment.

And this year marks its 50th season.

If you needed proof that Maryland loves its Renn Fest, every remaining date is currently sold out.

BUT, if you still want to go, you’re not completely out of luck.

Renn Fest releases a limited number of additional tickets for the upcoming weekend on Monday and Friday mornings. If your preferred date is sold out, join the waitlist. Those on the list get first shot at any tickets that become available, in the order they signed up.

It’s not a guarantee, but it’s definitely worth knowing before giving up on this season.

Whether you go for the costumes, jousting, turkey legs, local artisans, or just some elite people-watching, it’s pretty cool that one of Maryland’s biggest traditions has been happening in our backyard for 50 years.

Who you hire matters. And that goes beyond your real estate agent.

A recent Maryland court case is a pretty good example of why.

A problem was discovered in a home before closing. The seller hired a contractor to address it, and the contractor represented that the work had been completed.

It wasn’t.

The important part of the case wasn’t just the bad repair. The court upheld that what the contractor knew could also be treated as knowledge of the seller they were working for.

Think about what that means as a homeowner.

When you hire a real estate professional, you’re trusting more than one person. Inspectors, contractors, lenders, title companies and other professionals can all become part of the process.

That’s why I take referrals seriously.

My clients are always welcome to use professionals they already know and trust. But if I’m recommending someone, I want to know who I’m putting in front of them. And when someone new enters the transaction, I want to understand who they are and whether they’re qualified to do the job.

The same accountability goes both ways.

I’m interviewing a potential client just as much as they’re interviewing me. Not because every transaction needs to be perfect, but because everyone involved needs to be willing to communicate, disclose what needs to be disclosed, and do what they say they’re going to do.

That’s how you protect the people involved in the transaction.

Professionalism isn’t just about how you do your job.

It’s also about who you trust to do theirs.

Two things have an outsized impact on how a home performs once it hits the market. Price and condition.

1525 Fair Oak Drive in Hanover was listed at $519,990, went under contract in 17 days, and closed September 22 at $535,700.

That is $15,710 over asking. 103 percent of list price.

But a lot of the work that created that result happened before we ever hit the market.

The sellers took preparation seriously. We refreshed the exterior, fully decluttered the home, and addressed minor cosmetic details inside.

Nothing dramatic. No major renovation. Just a series of thoughtful decisions made before the first buyer ever walked through the door.

That preparation matters. When a home first hits the market you have something you cannot recreate later: the attention that comes with being a new listing.

Price it appropriately. Prepare it well. Present it properly. Then let the market respond.
