👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Do you have minor children? Have you assigned a guardian for them in the event of your death?

❤️ It's a difficult thing to think about, but assigning a guardian is one of the most important things parents can do to ensure their children are taken care of if the unexpected happens.

📝 Without a legal designation, the court will decide who will take care of your children. This could result in someone you wouldn't have chosen being appointed as their guardian, and may cause unnecessary conflict and uncertainty for your children during an already difficult time.

💡 Take the time to choose a guardian you trust and who shares your values and parenting style. Discuss your wishes with them and document your decision in a legal will or other document.

👉 Don't leave your children's future to chance. Make sure they are taken care of by someone you trust.

Our final week of the Family Harmony Series – Grandma’s glass candy dish. True story – my amazing Italian grandmother used to keep a glass candy dish in her living room filled with full-sized Hershey w/Almonds bars! For the youngest of 4 children, in a home where snacks were hidden so they’d be available for mom to pack in our school lunches, a full-sized candy bar was a real treat. The candy dish was glass – not crystal. But the memories were really good and important to not just me and my siblings but also my 4 cousins. Grandmothers (and parents) should consider the ‘candy dishes’ in their lives and try to leave something special (but not necessarily expensive) to each child or grandchild so there isn’t any quarrelling about it when they are no longer around.
