I have an absolute passion for working with justice-involved youth in our community. At this moment I am totally devastated because we are FAILING THEM by continuing to ignore and underfund the exact programs that ACTUALLY change their futures.

Halo isn’t a clinical, textbook program. It was founded by Jeremy Pavlik, who spent 15 years incarcerated, beat addiction, and built the exact lifesaver he needed when he was young. Halo's mentors have lived experience that has proven to be impactful time and again. These "warriors for youth" are boots on the ground, in the trenches Bad Asses walking alongside these kids, helping them beat substance use, navigate probation, get their GEDs, and find a safe haven.
EVERYONE says they want less crime and a safer community. If you want to reduce drugs, death, poverty, broken homes, and the jail population, this ALL starts with these kids.
The "it could never be my kids" or "this doesn't affect me" mindset doesn't work. These kids live here. They go to school with your kids. They will become parents themselves right here in our city. And RIGHT NOW, we ALL have to be "the village." As a community, we CAN effect change for generations to come, but only if we stop acting like this is not an "us problem."
We cannot demand these kids change if we don't protect the people teaching them how to change. If Halo disappears, a piece of our community’s future dies with it.
