This is a long post, and I encourage you to read to the end and even tag people you care about in the comments so they are fully aware of how serious the Equifax Data Breach is. We have a small window of opportunity to get our family and ourselves properly protected. Equifax has been collecting data about you since your Social Security Number was issued and, sadly, that's what they allowed to be stolen. A Social Security Number CAN NOT BE CANCELLED and DOES NOT HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE like a credit card. This is nothing to play around with and should certainly not be ignored. No one is immune to this breach, including your children (of any age). If you have checked on the Equifax site to see if you were impacted and got the message that your information "may have been impacted", that means your information was stolen and the coming months will be a nightmare for some. First off, DO NOT enroll with the free "protection" they are offering as Equifax can't be trusted. Equifax withheld announcing the breach so their executives could sell of nearly $2 Million worth of stock, they tried to dupe people into waiving their right to legal action against them, they had an earlier breach 5 months before this one that they did not disclose at all and they sent people to the wrong site to check their breach status for more than 2 weeks and it seems their hole just continues to get deeper. To say that Equifax is incompetent and negligent is a gross understatement. When Morgan Wright, a Sr. Anti-Terrorism Advisor for the US State Department, was being interviewed about the breach on CNBC Squawkbox show, Morgan said he DOES NOT TRUST what Equifax offers victims, he said “it's like using an eye dropper to put out a forest fire”. When asked what Identity Theft protection he uses, he says “IDShield; because actual investigators restore your identity.” The BEST protection you can get for you and your family is IDShield. I have personally reviewed nearly every plan out there and if there was a better one, I would be telling you about it. It provides FULL RESTORATION, meaning once you or someone in your family is a victim of ID Theft, licensed private investigators will be assigned to your case and will do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to RESTORE your identity for you and that's backed up with $5 Million service guarantee. I said all of that to say this, while you may have been a victim of the breach (and it's best just to assume that you are as the 143 Million number we were originally given continues to increase), you are not yet a victim of identity theft and getting enrolled before you are a victim of identity theft will keep you from having a pre existing id theft issue. While you can enroll after you are a victim of id theft and we will still provide you consultation on the matter, the restoration will have to be paid for out of pocket at that point, so it's definitely best and smarter to be proactive. IDShield plans are only $9.95 a month for individuals and only $19.95 a month for the family AND you will get the MemberPerks which is discounts to over 400 retailers that will save you more money than the IDShield plan costs you if you use them. So get back with me if you have additional questions or want to do the smart thing and get you and your family covered. Check to see if you and others in your family have been impacted.
