In an effort to reduce & tend to the current unemployment rate, Australia is significantly changing the eligibility guidelines for the sponsored work subclass 457 visas (soon to be replaced by the TSS visa), also affecting government sponsored subclasses 190/489. As of 19 April 2017, occupation lists have been overhauled & replaced to eliminate 216 occupations from the current shortage lists. Among other tightened requirements, are visa validity periods of 2-4yrs, minimum years of work experience, English language, and limited work visa renewals. New occupation lists are effective immediately, and all other changes to be rolled out between now & March 2018.
