The IRS has announced inflation adjustments for tax year 2023.

For an estate of any decedent dying in calendar year 2023, the basic exclusion amount is $12,920,000 for determining the amount of the unified credit against estate (and gift) tax under § 2010.

For calendar year 2023, the first $17,000 of gifts to any person (other than gifts of future interests in property) are not included in the total amount of taxable gifts under § 2503 made during that year. These are called "annual exclusion" gifts.

ATTENTION SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS!!! Akin to last year when we posted this, these notices are going out again. This is a scam. While they do file the annual renewal with the State, the fee they are charging is very expensive and does not include the annual minutes that we also recommend for businesses.

Please call us at (320) 685-3678 if you have questions about yearly compliance that you must do to keep your legal business entity up and running and to maintain your limited liability.
