For Halloween, we saved the birthplace of the Jersey Devil himself. This home is located in Leeds Point, NJ, a small community in the Pine Barrens. Legend says that when Mother Leeds was delivering her 13th child, she wished the Devil would take the child away once it was born. The child was born healthy, but suddenly changed into the ugliest of creatures and flew away into the darkness of the Pine Barrens. Now some say the Jersey Devil still lives in area, in the Blue Hole. Many have reported sightings over the decades, but usually people are so scared by his ugliness that they run away quickly and don't get a good luck at his features. According to nj.gov, some say the Jersey Devil protects the Pinelands and will not harm any humans who care for it. This home stands in Warren County near Jenny Jump State Forest. It was the home of Jenny herself. Legend has it that Jenny was being chased by a native american in the woods of the forest. When her father yelled to her to help her escape, he yelled, "Jump, Jenny, jump!" She did not survive. The state forest is named after her, and her home stands in the amusement park called The Land of Make Believe- because what could be more magical than a legend like this? 🤨

This was the home of American serial killer, Charles Cullen, "The Good Nurse." While he worked as a nurse in Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Warren Hospital, then Hunterdon Medical Center's ICU, he murdered dozens, if not hundreds of patients over his 16 year career. A film based on his story, called The Good Nurse, is available on Netflix.
