Just as you, we at Modern Family Mediation are aware of the new stressors we are facing as we adapt to life in quarantine due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. These stressors are many and include the health and safety of our loved ones, how long will this last, what will be the new normal when COVID-19 ends, how is this affecting our families emotional well-being and relationships, and what will be the financial toll, just to name a few? While Modern Family Mediation does not have the answers to these difficult questions, there are just a few proven ways to effectively reduce stress during trying times.
- Follow the CDC Guidelines established to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
- Stay connected by reaching out to friends, family members, mentors, and clergy.
- Eat a healthy diet.
- Engage in physical activity to help your metabolism function at a healthy rate.
- Go to bed at a regularly scheduled time and get a good night’s sleep.
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and ni****ne as much as possible.
- Engage in relaxation techniques, such as, deep breathing or meditation.
- Talk to trained mental health professional if you need to.
- Manage your time by creating a schedule for the day.
- Learn to set boundaries and don’t be afraid to say, “NO” if someone is asking too much from you.
- Use music, art, or other creative ways to provide healthy mental distractions for yourself.
