Michigan Lawyers Weekly has recognized Heidi Sharp Managing Partner of The Sharp Firm, as one of Michigan’s 2025 “Go To Lawyers” for Employment Law. Known for her commitment to fair and lawful workplaces, Sharp’s passion for employment law stems from firsthand experience with environments that failed to protect workers. Rather than defining her career by a single case, she measures success by the meaningful impact each case has on her clients’ lives—advocating for accountability, dignity, and justice in the workplace.

The ADA is an integral part of the employment workplace and an important tool to protect employees' rights in the workplace. The Sharp Firm is proud to work to enforce the ADA in many of their cases on a daily basis. If you need more information about the ADA you can visit the site below, the EEOC website or call us.

33 years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. The historic civil rights law protects the rights of people with disabilities to prevent discrimination and ensure they have the same opportunities as everyone else. Visit https://www.ada.gov/ for more information.

There's a new case out of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania which all potential employment Plaintiffs need to be aware of. Recently the EEOC changed its service of Right to Sue notices to email. The court held that receipt of the email was enough effectuate the 90 day time limit in which to file a claim, and the Plaintiff who did not check their email timely was not allowed to 'toll' the statute of limitations during the time in which the email was received and when they opened it. Meaning, when they filed their case one day late, it was dismissed and forever time barred. The court held that regular attention to email and best practices is essential as courts and government agencies move to e-filing and e-notice. Lesson: check your email regularly and if an email comes from the EEOC, open it up and see if there are important timelines! The full case is here for anyone who is interested
