Now to the newest member of the office family, Emily Quinn! She is the daughter of an old family friend, but this was not a nepo-hire at all! When we needed a new receptionist, Emily came in and I was blown away by how poised and professional she was at such a young age! She is UTC graduate just like me, and is able to reach things off of very high shelves, unlike me! She has been an amazing addition to the staff and takes the initiative like no other young person I have ever seen. She's the gorgeous smiling face on the end of the phone line for anyone who calls and we absolutely adore her.

Uh oh! I saw this and couldn't help but share, given my line of work!

Up next in my staff appreciation posts: IT'S AUSTIN! Fun fact: his last name is also Campbell, but we aren't related. Because of that last name and his wonderful qualifications, I kept his résumé on my desk for months even when I didn't need a new employee. When it was time to get a receptionist that I felt like I could train as a paralegal, I reached out to him and we hit it off immediately. This young man is so incredibly intelligent! He has been an asset to the office since he walked in the door. Suzanne and I immediately realized that he would make a great lawyer and he believed us! He is now finishing up his first year of law school while working part-time for the office and he is knocking it out of the park. He has moved out of the receptionist role and is now a fully trained paralegal. He is awesome (that's his nickname around here) and integral to our client relations. If you know him, give him a shout out!

Family law is extremely difficult.

This is true for everybody involved, including parents, children, and lawyers. If you were going through a family law matter, it is okay that it is hard; it would be weird if it wasn't.

I promise, based on my personal experience and dealings with thousands of cases, that it will get easier, and you will get through it!

Stay strong out there!

It's time to brag on my staff! My ride-or-die paralegal, Suzanne, and I have worked together for about 20 of the last 25 years. She has the best work ethic of anyone I've ever known, and she constantly makes me a better lawyer. She's also HYSTERICAL. I'll tell you about Austin and Emily later this week!

This is from 26 years ago today at my law school graduation. I had a ball in law school and still have a ball in my practice. I don't always smile that big and I have no idea why I had that haircut, but at least I'm still enthusiastic!

Today, I am going to share the 3 Main Reasons Divorces Typically Happen:

1. Money issues: This is a no-brainer, as different saving and spending patterns can easily cause conflict. With life being as expensive as it is nowadays, couples' arguments over money issues have only become more pronounced.

2. Raising children: As parents, this is our number one priority. Different parenting styles or types of discipline are common causes of emotional arguments. Again, this makes complete sense, and there is no shame in having issues about this topic.

3. Intimacy: Whether the couple has just lost all intimacy or if one person has been intimate with somebody outside the marriage, it greatly affects the dynamic of the marriage. Unfortunately, infidelity plays a role in many of my divorce cases.

While those are just three reasons, there can be dozens of reasons for people to get a divorce, and sometimes, that is the right call to make. Usually, the issue is not just one but several that can build over the years. I know nobody is happy about getting a divorce, but sometimes, alleviating these issues from your life leads to an overall boost in quality for you, your spouse, and your children.

Of course, everything is handled on a case-by-case basis. If you need someone to consult with about that process, I am here to help. My office number is (423) 829-1429.
